Who signs in, how invites work, and why each person only sees the children linked to their account.

Account roles

Parent

Parent account

Signs in with email. Can create child profiles, manage settings, progress, and send invitations.

  • Can add and edit child profiles
  • Can invite another guardian or tutor
  • Can switch into a managed child session
Child (managed)

Managed child profile

Most children do not need an email login. They are selected from the profile switcher inside the parent account.

  • No separate email required
  • Optional 4-digit PIN for profile switch
  • Parent keeps ownership and visibility
Child (claimed)

Claimed child login

Older children can have their own login after a parent sends a claim invitation. The parent-child link is kept.

  • Child signs in with their own email
  • Profile becomes linked to that account
  • Parent access remains in place
Tutor / Guardian

Tutor or extra guardian

Invited to specific children only. They see only the children they are explicitly linked to.

  • Invitation by email and role
  • Access starts after invitation acceptance
  • No automatic access to other profiles

How invitation links work

1. Open the claim or invite link from the email.
2. Sign in with the same email address shown on the invite page.
3. Click accept, then continue to the dashboard.
4. If the wrong account is signed in, sign out first and re-open with the invited email.

Common questions

Why does the sign-in email say "Supabase" or "Your Magic Link"?
Passwordless sign-in emails are sent by the authentication service (Supabase). They are still for spelling.live. Check spam or Promotions if you do not see the message.
Why does an invite open with the wrong Google account?
Your browser may already be signed in to another account. Use the invite page to confirm the invited email, sign out, then sign in with the correct one.
Why does a tutor only see one child?
Tutor access is child-specific by design. Each relationship must be accepted per child profile.
Can I invite the same person to multiple children?
Yes. Send one invitation per child profile. After accepting each, they will see all children they were linked to.

How to delete your account

To request deletion of your account and all associated data including child profiles and learning history:
1. Email support@spelling.live from your registered email address.
2. Use the subject line: Account deletion request
3. We will confirm and complete your request within 30 days.

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed:

Some anonymised usage data may be retained for security and legal compliance purposes for up to 90 days.
