Since the summer, any teacher or tutor could claim 500 free AI credits a month on Spelling.Live. From today, 5 November 2026, that offer is closed to new claims, and the free monthly 500 for existing teacher and tutor accounts ends on 1 December 2026. In its place, schools and tuition centres can apply for a free pilot.
Why we are changing it
The free credits were meant for classrooms. In practice, most of the accounts that claimed them never used them with a class. Meanwhile, the schools that got the most out of Spelling.Live were the ones we worked with directly, setting up the class and the first lists together and talking through what was working.
So we would rather put our time into supported pilots with schools and tuition centres than give credits away to anyone who fills in a form.
What changes
- No new claims from today. The /for-tutors form is now an enquiry form, and a person reads every message.
- The free monthly 500 ends on 1 December 2026 for teacher and tutor accounts that already have it.
- Credits you have already been given are yours until they expire.
- The class tools stay free: classes, assigning lists, pupil logins, printed login labels, class reports and the class test scan.
- Every account still starts with 200 credits. After that, credits come in packs of 400 for £4 or 5,000 for £20.
How to get started
- Schools and tuition centres: apply for a free pilot. We help you set up the class and your first lists, and stay in touch while it runs.
- Individual tutors with a significant need: send us an enquiry and tell us what you need.
- Schools that want to buy straight away: ask for a quote, payable by card or invoice.
