Every result is saved to the report - counting towards accuracy, tricky-word ranking and the by-mode breakdown, shown as "Dictation (paper)".
A real spelling test, run the traditional way: the app reads the words out, your child writes them by hand on paper, and then you photograph the page for instant, accurate marking.
Tap the 🎧 button on your child's card to start. You'll need to be signed in with cloud sync on.
Every result is saved to the report - counting towards accuracy, tricky-word ranking and the by-mode breakdown, shown as "Dictation (paper)".
Each result feeds the spaced-repetition scheduler, so words your child missed are brought back earlier in future practice.
What your child wrote for a missed word is stored, so the "wrong answers" view, coach tips and spelling-pattern analysis stay accurate.
If handwriting analysis is on for that child, the writing on the page is scored too and added to the Formation/Writing report.
Both work from a photo, but they point in opposite directions. Paper practice imports a test someone else set and marked - you photograph an already-marked school sheet and the app reads the words, the ticks and the crosses.
The Dictation test is the app setting and marking its own test - it chose and read the words aloud, so the page has only your child's handwriting. That's why it can guarantee the target words, order them by what's due, and mark deterministically rather than interpreting a teacher's marks.
Marking the photographed page uses one credit; if handwriting scoring runs as well, that's one more - so up to two credits per page. Reading the words aloud and everything else is free. More on how credits work →
